UPDATE: Christa Gail Pike – Failed Execution

On September 30, 2026 Tennessee attempted to execute Christa Gail Pike for the 1995 murder of Colleen Anne Slemmer.

The execution did not go as planned.

In this update, I cover what happened inside the execution chamber, Pike's current condition, the questions surrounding the failed execution and Tennessee's decision to halt executions for the remainder of 2026 while the state investigates.
